Call for Presentations: 2016 THA Leadership Summit

THA’s Tennessee Center for Patient Safety, The Tennessee Organization of Nurse Executives, Tennessee Nurses Association and Tennessee Association for Healthcare Quality are pleased to announce plans for the 11th Annual Leadership Summit, which will be held on October 19, 2016 in conjunction with THA’s annual meeting at the Omni Nashville Hotel in downtown Nashville.

The Leadership Summit will continue the tradition of highlighting Tennessee hospitals and health systems’ successful strategies to create a culture for performance excellence and improve patient outcomes.

The keynote speaker for the Summit will be Tim Porter-O’Grady, DM, EdD, ScD (h), APRN, FAAN, and FACCWS. Tim Porter-O’Grady has been involved in health care for 44 years and has held roles from staff nurse to senior executive in a variety of health care settings. Tim is currently senior partner of an international healthcare consulting firm in Atlanta specializing in health futures, organizational innovation, conflict and change, as well as complex health service delivery models.  He is noted for his work on shared governance models, clinical leadership, conflict, innovation, complex systems, and health futures.

His keynote address will offer creative strategies for interdisciplinary leadership to approach the chaos and complexity of healthcare transformation.

Tim has published extensively in health care with over 175 professional journal articles and 23 books and is an 8-time winner of the AJN Healthcare Book of the Year Award.

Like last year’s Leadership Summit, we are seeking presentation proposals from hospitals across Tennessee that demonstrate and share best practices on fostering an organizational culture for excellence, quality and patient safety improvement successes, engaging patients and families, navigating transitions of care, and strategies to promote collaboration and teamwork. This is a great opportunity to network and share successful strategies among hospitals, as well as recognize and reward staff members’ hard work on improving care for patients.

Please share the Call for Presentations throughout your organization and encourage your staff to apply for either a presentation or poster. Applications are due by July 29, 2016.

If you have any questions about the application process or the Leadership Summit, please contact Chris Clarke at THA, 615.256.8240.
