The Tennessee Hospital Association (THA) honored Rep. David Hawk (R-Greeneville) as a 2023 THA Hospital Hero for his dedication and work on behalf of hospitals in Tennessee.
THA Hospital Hero Awards recognize lawmakers who prioritize policy issues that contribute to the health and wellness of all Tennesseans through their support for hospitals. Rep. Hawk was presented the 2023 award at Greeneville Community Hospital, with hospital and Ballad Health leadership in attendance.
“Representative Hawk’s ability to engage and lead on complicated healthcare issues has been critical during an extremely difficult time for hospitals and the entire healthcare industry,” said Wendy Long, M.D., THA president and CEO. “His committee leadership and willingness to keep an open door has been vital to the advocacy and policy priorities of the association.”
As chair of the House Health Subcommittee Committee and member of the House Finance Committee, both THA priority committees, Rep. Hawk is dedicated to ensuring access to quality care for patients at Tennessee hospitals, including Greeneville Community Hospital.
“Many investments Ballad Health and Greeneville Community Hospital are making in healthcare and population health initiatives would not be possible without Rep. Hawk’s support,” said Greeneville Community Hospital Chief Executive Officer Eric Carroll. “We are honored to work alongside him with a shared mission of making Greene County an even greater—and healthier—place to live, work and play.”
