Call for Presentations for 2018 THA Leadership Summit

Tennessee Hospital Association’s Tennessee Center for Patient Safety is pleased to announce plans for the 13th Annual Leadership Summit, which will be held on October 17, 2018 in conjunction with THA’s annual meeting at the Franklin Marriott in Cool Springs. Partnering organizations include: Tennessee Organization of Nurse Executives, Tennessee Nurses Association, Tennessee Society for Organizational Improvement, and Tennessee Association for Healthcare Quality.

The Leadership Summit will continue the tradition of highlighting Tennessee hospitals and health systems’ successful strategies to create a culture for performance excellence and improve patient outcomes.

The keynote speaker for the Summit will be James Kane. Combining the latest research in neurology, anthropology, and behavioral psychology, James presents an entirely new understanding of what it means to be loyal, how and why it exists, and what organizations and individuals can do to achieve it. In his presentation “All for One”, James shares the science behind cooperative behavior and the influences that impact our human connections. The revelations are surprising, if not shocking, but critically important for any organization looking to create a more cohesive, productive, engaged, and fulfilled team. James draws from his experience as an advisor to some of the largest and most well-known organizations in the world — including Apple, Marriott Hotels, and Major League Baseball — along with research from his upcoming books “The Loyalty Switch” and “Virtually Loyal.”

Like last year’s Leadership Summit, we are seeking presentation proposals from hospitals across Tennessee that demonstrate and share best practices on fostering an organizational culture for excellence, quality and patient safety improvement successes, engaging patients and families, navigating transitions of care, and strategies to promote collaboration and teamwork. This is a great opportunity to network and share successful strategies among hospitals, as well as recognize and reward staff members’ hard work on improving care for patients.

Please share the attached calls for proposals throughout your organization and encourage your staff to apply for either an oral presentation or poster. Please note that the application for oral presentations and the application for poster presentations have been simplified and made separate. Applications are due by July 27, 2018.
