Governance Webinar Series – Session 3 – Expectations of Board Oversight of Compliance Programs

Board oversight of the effectiveness of an organization’s corporate compliance activities is a key aspect of the fiduciary duty of care. This session will provide an understanding of where compliance programs came from, their purpose and expectations for board members to oversee an effective compliance program. This session also will help board members know what questions to ask and the processes to put in place to set the tone at the top for the organization’s compliance activities.
- Discuss developing processes to foster oversight of compliance program activities.
- Identify how collaboration facilitates an effective compliance program.
- List the board’s primary responsibilities with compliance programs.
- Review governmental agencies’ compliance program expectations for boards.
Michael Chase focuses on regulatory and compliance matters including fraud and abuse laws, compliance programs, HIPAA and data privacy laws, and institutional review board compliance. Chase is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the Iowa Society of Healthcare Attorneys, the Health Care Compliance Association and the Iowa Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Kimberly Lammers helps clients with advice and representation for issues concerning federal health care program fraud and abuse laws, regulatory compliance, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, clinical denials and appeals, and contracting. Lammers is also a certified professional coder through the American Academy of Professional Coders and has completed ICD-10 proficiency testing.
