A crisis can occur because of an unpredictable event or an unforeseeable consequence of an event that had been considered a risk. In either case, crises always require decisions be made quickly to limit damage to an organization. The nature of the potential damage varies based on the type of the crisis. But in most cases, a crisis can affect health and safety, the organization’s finances, the organization’s reputation or some combination of these. This series will study the application of strategies designed to help an organization deal with a sudden and significant negative event. Crisis management has three very distinct parts made up of activities before, during and after an event. This series will provide insights into all three areas.
