Tennessee Hospital Association is excited to announce a community service project in conjunction with its 2017 Annual Meeting, Tennessee Hospitals: The Pulse of Our Communities, to be held Oct. 11 through 13 at the Music City Center in downtown Nashville.
The project, THA Gives Back, will invite conference attendees to assemble care packages for veterans in Tennessee. These personal hygiene kits will be donated to Operation Stand Down Tennessee (OSDTN), a statewide organization that provides a range of support services for veterans and their families at no cost to them. OSDTN provides transitional housing, VA benefits counseling, employment services and homelessness prevention.
THA members and staff are asked to collect new travel size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste and bars of soap to complete the kits. In addition, packages of men’s socks (sized medium to large), underwear (sized medium to extra-large) and undershirts (sized medium to triple-extra-large) are items of specific need for OSDTN that will be collected.
Item donations or monetary contributions can be made between now and Oct. 10 to the THA Education Department. Attendees also may bring items with them to Annual Meeting.
A friendly competition between THA membership districts will be held to encourage participation. The district that completes the most kits during Annual Meeting and the district that contributes the most socks, underwear and undershirts will be recognized with the THA Service Cup at the THA Membership Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 13.
Additional updates on this project will be posted at THA.com/annual. For more information, contact Lisa Wright at THA, 615-256-8240.
