Overnight, the U.S. Senate voted down the Health Care Freedom Act, a bill that was intended to repeal key provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Following is a statement from THA President and CEO Craig Becker on the vote.
“While the ‘skinny repeal’ did not pass, there now is opportunity for lawmakers and stakeholders to work together to address several key issues that affect Tennessee hospitals and the patients they serve. Chief among these issues is stabilization of the individual insurance market.
“Throughout the past several weeks, THA has offered recommendations that would make healthcare accessible for all Tennesseans and bring much needed stability to hospitals, especially those in rural areas.
“THA looks forward to continuing to work closely with our congressional delegation to take positive action on these and other hospital priorities.”
