The Tennessee Hospital Association (THA) honored Sen. Becky Duncan Massey (R-Knoxville) as a 2023 THA Hospital Hero for her dedication and work on behalf of hospitals in Tennessee.
THA Hospital Hero Awards recognize lawmakers who prioritize policy issues that contribute to the health and wellness of all Tennesseans through their support for hospitals. Sen. Massey was presented the 2023 award at The University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC), with hospital and UTMC leadership in attendance.
“Senator Massey’s commitment to serving as a problem solver has positioned her as a sought-after legislator when working through complex issues,” said Wendy Long, M.D., THA president and CEO. “She is a person who prioritizes and tirelessly advocates for the care of our state’s most vulnerable citizens.”
As chair of the Senate Transportation and Safety Committee and a member of the Health and Welfare Committee, Sen. Massey is dedicated to ensuring access to quality care for patients at Tennessee hospitals, including UTMC.
“We are so grateful to Senator Massey for helping to elevate the needs of and advocate for all Tennesseans,” said UTMC Chief Executive Officer Joseph Landsman, Jr. “Senator Massey’s work helps us to deliver on our mission — as the region’s academic medical center — to serve through healing, education and discovery.”
