Michael Ugwueke, president and CEO at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, Memphis, was installed as chair of the Tennessee Hospital Association’s (THA) Board of Directors during THA’s Annual Meeting.
Ugwueke has been with Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare since 2007 and was named president and CEO in 2017. In this role, he oversees the presidents of Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, Methodist University Hospital, and Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital. His commitment to advancing healthcare quality and access earned him recognition as one of Modern Healthcare’s Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare in 2012 and 2020.
Jim VanderSteeg, president and CEO of Covenant Health, was elected board chair-elect. VanderSteeg joined Covenant Health in 2007 and served in various leadership roles, including executive vice president and chief operating officer, before being named president and CEO in 2016.
Tim Adams, regional operating officer and senior vice president with Ascension and former president and CEO of Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, is now the immediate past chair after serving as the 2023-2024 THA board chair.
