The Tennessee Hospital Association (THA) honored Sen. Ferrell Haile (R-Gallatin) as a 2022 THA Hospital Hero for his dedication and work on behalf of hospitals in Tennessee.

THA Hospital Hero Awards recognize lawmakers who prioritize policy issues that contribute to the health and wellness of all Tennesseans through support for hospitals. Sen. Haile was presented the 2022 award at Sumner Regional Medical Center, with hospital and Lifepoint Health leadership in attendance.

“Sen. Haile’s compassionate approach to leadership has positioned him as a respected statesman with whom people genuinely enjoy working,” said Wendy Long, M.D., THA president and CEO. “He is a person who is dedicated to ensuring that needed state and federal resources are available to state programs that care for Tennessee citizens.”

As speaker pro tempore of the Tennessee state Senate and a member of the Health and Welfare and Finance, Ways, and Means Committees, Sen. Haile is dedicated to ensuring patient safety and access to quality care for patients at Tennessee hospitals, including Summer Regional Medical Center.

“We continue to be so grateful for Sen. Haile’s accessibility and thoughtfulness advocating for Sumner Regional and his district at the State Capitol,” said Sumner Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Rod Harkleroad. “His steady leadership in Nashville for hospitals is and will continue to be critical.”
